Hosting a table that keeps meeting

Keeping a chair genuinely open — the rota, the posters, the reminders, the no-shows — is ongoing work for one person. That is the only thing here with a price on it.

$5 a month, per table

Free until the table has met 3 times, so it proves itself before it costs anything. Billed to the table rather than to you — if you hand it on, the tools go with it.

The table carries on. Paying removes labour; it never removes the mechanism — a table must never stop keeping a chair open because its host didn’t pay.

Your day count, your milestones, your forecasts, your heat map, and getting all of it back out again. Charging for insight into your own recovery would be rent on the hardest thing about you, so there is no version of SoberOut where that is a paid feature.

No. Going to things, keeping track of your own recovery, joining tables, taking the door for a newcomer — none of that costs anything, and none of it is a trial. The only thing with a price on it is the set of tools for running a table that meets again and again.

Because the work is per table. Someone running one table pays for one; someone running three has three lots of rota, posters and reminders to keep on top of. It also means the tools stay with the table when you hand it on — the next host does not have to start paying before the chair can be kept open.

The table carries on meeting. You go back to assigning the door by hand one occurrence at a time, one poster per occurrence, and no attendance memory. Nothing that keeps a chair open is ever switched off for non-payment.

After it has met three times. It is a usage trial rather than a 30-day clock, so a table that meets monthly gets three months. Each table you start gets its own three.

No, and there is no version of this where there will be. Day count, milestones, forecasts, heat map and export are all free at full depth. Charging for insight into your own recovery would be rent on the hardest thing about you.

We have not settled this yet. The intention is that billing pauses itself when a table has not met for a while — nobody should be paying for a table that has died, and nobody should be surprised by a charge for one they meant to pause. Until that rule exists, cancel from the table page and email us if the timing catches you out.

Not yet, and probably there should be. Someone holding four tables is the best thing that can happen to a town and is currently billed for four. We know that is the wrong shape and have not decided the right one.

All major credit cards, handled by Stripe. Card details go straight to them — they are never seen or stored on our servers.

Yes. Email support@soberout.social with a bit about the organisation. A comped table is a human decision here rather than an automated one, and it is not reversed by a billing event.

No. The feed has no likes, no reply counts and no ranking, and the data model has nowhere to put them — that is deliberate, so the option is closed off rather than merely declined.
