Everything you need to know about viewing, upgrading, downgrading, and canceling your SoberOut subscription.

Understanding Your Subscription

SoberOut offers three subscription tiers designed to support your alcohol-free journey:

Free ($0/month)

Perfect for getting started. Create up to 2 communities, join unlimited communities, and create up to 3 events per month. Includes 90-day message history and basic analytics.

Premium ($4.99/month)

For active community members. Unlimited communities and events, unlimited message history, extended analytics, advanced search, profile view insights, and priority support.

Supporter ($9.99/month)

Support our mission and get exclusive perks including featured event listings, custom profile badges, early access to features, and access to our supporter-only community.

Viewing Your Current Plan

To view your current subscription plan and details:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Click on the Subscription tab
  3. Your current plan will be displayed at the top of the page
  4. You can see your billing cycle, next payment date, and plan features

Upgrading Your Plan

When you upgrade your subscription, you get immediate access to all new features:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Review the available plans and their features
  3. Click Upgrade to Premium or Become a Supporter
  4. Enter your payment information securely through Stripe
  5. Confirm your upgrade

What happens when you upgrade

  • • You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle
  • • All new features are available immediately
  • • Your billing date remains the same
  • • You'll receive a confirmation email with your receipt

Downgrading Your Plan

If you need to reduce your subscription level:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select the lower tier you'd like to switch to
  4. Confirm the downgrade

Important information about downgrades

  • • Your downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle
  • • You'll keep access to all features until then
  • • You won't be charged for the new lower tier until the next cycle
  • • Some data may be affected (e.g., message history limits on Free tier)

Canceling Your Subscription

We're sorry to see you go, but you can cancel your subscription at any time:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  3. Click Cancel Subscription
  4. Confirm your cancellation

What happens after cancellation

  • • You'll keep access to your paid features until the end of the billing cycle
  • • You won't be charged again
  • • Your account will automatically switch to the Free tier
  • • You can reactivate your subscription anytime
  • • Your data and communities remain intact

Common Questions

Can I switch between plans multiple times?

Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription as many times as you need. We want you to have the flexibility to choose what works best for your journey.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe. Your payment information is never stored on our servers.

Will I lose my data if I downgrade or cancel?

No. Your profile, communities, and events remain intact. However, some features like extended message history may become limited based on your new tier's restrictions.

Can I get a refund?

We offer prorated refunds for annual subscriptions canceled within 14 days. Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable, but you'll keep access until the end of your billing cycle.

Is my payment information secure?

Absolutely. We use Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor trusted by millions of businesses. We never see or store your full payment details.
